Target return policy without receipt

Question: What is Target’s return policy without receipt?

Target return policy without receipt

Misplaced Receipt

If you misplaced your receipt from any purchase Target will make an attempt to look it up. I have found that if you made a purchase lets say today Target’s computers will not be able to look it up for 5-7 days. I made a purchase and I wanted to return the item, not thinking I would be returning it I chucked the receipt in the garbage. When I returned to the store later the same day the sales associate tried looking up my purchased and did not find it. I waited 5 days and then returned. The item was found and I was able to get a refund.

Receipt Look Up

They can attempt to look up the receipt for your purchase. Bring the item, a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and the method of payment used to Guest Services within the return window allowed for that item (see Target Return Policy).

The store can look up receipts for purchases made with the following methods of payment:

  • A Target REDcard™ (Target Debit Card™, Target Credit Card™, Target™ Mastercard®)
  • Third-party Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express®, and Discover® credit cards
  • Checks: You must bring a blank check from the same checking account
  • Target GiftCards: You must have the physical Target GiftCard for look-up
Best Advice: If your purchase can not be refunded or you get denied. Always ask to speak to a manager at the store. Sometimes it never hurts to ask, some managers will good will a refund if you are close to the 90-day return policy or unopened item.

Most unopened items in new condition and returned within 90 days will receive a refund or exchange. Some items have a modified return policy noted on the receipt, Target policy board (refund exceptions), Target.com or in the item department. Items that are opened or damaged or do not have a receipt may be denied a refund or exchange.
